Two Buttes Mountain

Not nearly as far away as the mountain appears, this illussionary mountain rises from the prairie in a long slope to twin peaks, most often referred to as Two Buttes Mountain. This prairie, mostly never plowed feeds cattle and spreads as far as the eye can see. The eastern horizon may be as far as 40 miles from the standing point of this photo taken midway between Lamar and Springfield.

Two Buttes Mountain & Wind Generators

Check out the tiny bumps on the right side of these wind generators. This photo is taken toward Two Buttes Mountain from Highway 287 south of Lamar, Colorado.

The wind generators run from nearly twenty miles west of the highway to about ten miles east of the highway along the Gobblers Knob Ridge. Sentinels of change across the prairie, these towers of power are visible for more than thirty miles.
